My Day with Lalah.

One thing I know for sure is if you follow your Bliss and passion...Magic will happen.

I recently received a phone call from LA based Stylist Tomiko Umoren saying that she wanted me to design some pieces for one of her clients. I said "Ok Great! whats your clients name"?  She said so casually "Lalah Hathaway"..... Ok wait a minute!!!,... LALAH HATHAWAY (I screamed under my breath)...I Love her!! Her music! Voice! and off course I was raised listening to her legendary father's music Donny Hathaway, his music was a constant staple in my home growing up...WOW!


So after I composed my self (I gotta stay cool you kno)..lol my creative wheels were in over drive...


The timing was perfect she had a  upcoming Concert at the beautiful Chene Park Concert theater, and the Detroit River is the back drop,  So I immediately knew I wanted to design a free flowing colorful floor length maxi dress. I wanted the arms to be free and have movement so when Lalah was belting out her hits the dress would jus be Floooooowing....  I was ready to make Magic!


I called My Best friend Charity and told her about my latest project and she was more Excited then I was lol...So I knew who I would take on the journey with me ...fittings,backstage, and finally to enjoy the concert Yep! Bestie was on the scene....Lets Goooooo!


FITTING:


The 1st fitting I was a little nervous wreck!..LOL. We arrived to her hotel room and within a few minutes, Lalah came out of the back with the biggest smile and warmest presence ever..I was immediately calmed. She is originally from Chicago so she has that Midwest down to earth spirit.




After a while we were all laughing and chatting.........................................The First fitting was complete.

Its SHOWTIME!
 I had the pleasure of Riding to the concert with her, hanging out backstage and Enjoying the show!

 So also Stopped the show and Gave me a Special Shout out! Asking the Crowd "Do u like my dress?"... And then said it was designed by Detroits own Chargrels Couture!... I was screaming Like a fool..LOL!

This was truly a great experience, I cant wait till our NEXT PROJECT...YEP! That's right more magic to come...............................stay tuned :)
